Firm to defend Baltimore Orioles in federal antitrust case

March 3, 2015 – Firm partner David Given entered an appearance today on behalf of The Baltimore Orioles in a case alleging that it and the balance of Major League Baseball's clubs, together with the league itself, conspired to violate federal antitrust law in the treatment of their minor league players. David, who grew up in Baltimore an avid Orioles fan, expects to work closely with the team's Maryland-based outside counsel, who also made an appearance in the case. The court has scheduled an early case management conference, where it will likely set briefing on defendants' motions to dismiss the case on, among other grounds, baseball's well-recognized antitrust exemption.
