DAVID C. PHILLIPS has been a trial lawyer for over 30 years.  He has tried a wide-variety of cases in the Federal and State courts in California and in other states.  In the mid-1970s, he began to represent performing artists and entities in the music business, providing services since then for, among others, Bill Graham/Bill Graham Presents; Carlos Santana; Grace Slick; JOURNEY and its individual members; John Lee Hooker and MCA/Universal Studios.  He was outside litigation counsel to music merchandiser Winterland for 25 years.

Mr. Phillips has also represented both claimants and defendants in insurance coverage disputes, trying to judgment some of the earliest cases in the "bad-faith" insurance area.  In 1982, he obtained the largest bad-faith verdict in San Francisco Superior Court history ($2.9 million) on a marine insurance contract.

For the past 10 years, Mr. Phillips has represented both claimants and employers in employment law disputes, wrongful termination and sexual harassment litigation.  He successfully defended a same-sex harassment suit in the San Francisco Superior Court.  The firm has been appointed by Sodexho USA, the nation's largest food services and facilities management company, to be its Northern California regional counsel for employment law matters.

Mr. Phillips also practices admiralty law and is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States.
