DAVID C. PHILLIPS, Partner and co-founder of Phillips, Erlewine & Given LLP, handles trial and appellate litigation. David graduated magna cum laude, a member of Phi Beta Kappa from Williams College and received his law degree from Harvard Law School. David is an experienced litigator, having tried over 100 cases. David originally specialized in maritime law and later began to represent performing artists and entities in the music business, eventually representing such clients as Bill Graham/Bill Graham Presents, Carlos Santana, Grace Slick, Journey, John Lee Hooker, Dead Kennedys, Carole King and music industry merchandisers including Winterland Productions and Signatures Networks. David successfully represented Jerry Garcia’s wife in her multi-million dollar property settlement against the late musician’s estate. David has also tried numerous commercial, insurance bad faith, maritime and employment cases, representing both claimants and defendants, and obtained one of the largest “bad faith” verdicts in the San Francisco courts against two marine insurance underwriters.
