Firm lawyer to serve on Mayor’s Commission on Persons with Disabilities

June 21, 2022 – Today the Oakland City Council unanimously confirmed Mayor Libby Schaaf’s nomination of firm lawyer Kyle O’Malley to the Mayor’s Commission on Persons with Disabilities (MCPD).  Established by city ordinance in 1980, the MCPD represents and addresses the concerns of the disability community in Oakland. Since 1990, the MCPD has acted as the City’s designated advisory body for ADA compliance. It advises the Mayor and City Council on matters affecting the disability community; reviews and comments on City policies, programs and actions; provides advice and assistance to other City boards and commissions; and advocates at the local, state and national levels for the advancement of disability rights. Commissioners serve for three year terms and a majority identify as persons with disabilities. Commissioner O’Malley is expected to be sworn in over the coming days and will serve out the remainder of a term ending in September 2024.
